Asking for a Pay Rise

No matter what type of industry you work in there may be a time when you feel you deserve a pay rise. Whether you work in a high position at a banking firm or work in a telephone answering call centre, if you work hard and feel as though you are doing well for the company then you may ask for a pay rise.

It can be quite a tricky subject to approach with your manager though so here are some top tips about asking for a rise.
  • Research the market and find out what wage people are on in similar jobs
  • Find the right time to speak to your manager. Don’t ask right after he’s come out of a 2 hour long meeting
  • Talk about what a benefit you are to the company
  • If your request for a rise isn’t met, think about what else you could ask for to progress your experience such as training courses.
