Texting Makes Us More Honest

Using mobile phone to send texts has become a key way in which many of us communicate and because it gets rid of the need for human interaction, it is making it easier for people to be honest. A University research institute in America undertook a study which found that more people are willing to discuss more sensitive subjects by text rather than phone or in person.

Another point is that when texting people have more time so can get their point across more succinctly than when answering the phone. If people are giving number related facts and figures they are more likely to give exact figures in text where they are more likely to round up or down when talking on the phone or in person.

Although this is related more to personal conversations, it’s interesting to think how this relates to business and whether mobiles would overtake landlines as the leading type of telephone for business use. Personally I think there’s something more business like about having a landline number to phone and gives a better impression than a mobile number on your website.

What do you think?
