Answering the Phone Lands Man in Trouble

Did you ever think that answering a telephone call could get you a night spent in prison? Well that’s exactly what happened for a gentleman in Ireland who decided instead of turning his phone off when it rang in the Magistrates Court he would instead answer it.

Since you are not allowed to answer your phone inside the Courts, the man was removed and placed in immediate custody and will be fined £200. He should count himself lucky though because the maximum fine for this offence is actually one month in jail and a fine of up to £2,500.

I’m sure he’ll think twice about answering his phone when he’s told not to again!
